Why We Love The Manor Barn, Harlton

If you stroll through the sleepy Cambridgeshire village of Harlton, then you’ll soon spot The Manor Barn – a 400-year old farm and one of the county’s most gorgeous wedding venues.

As local photographers, we’ve always had an affinity with The Manor Barn. We even shot the photos for their very first website back in 2018! Both businesses have come a long way in the past 7 years, and we’ve had the privilege of watching and shooting many beautiful weddings at this breathtaking venue.

What is there to love about The Manor Barn? As the name would suggest, this wedding venue offers couples a beautiful barn setting for a whole three days to celebrate their nuptials, with space for small and large groups of guests alike. With a large courtyard, barn reception space, and situated only 20 minutes outside of the bustling heart of Cambridge, The Manor Barn is perfect for couples who want a little bit of everything in one place.

We’ve photographed weddings at The Manor Barn in all seasons and weathers, each with their own whimsy, charm and plenty of twinkling fairy lights. Scroll down for the best that The Manor Barn has to offer, from the ceremony, to the reception, and couples that loved every minute of their special day.

The Ceremony

When it comes to saying “I Do”, nearly-weds at The Manor Barn are spoilt for choice!

The venue holds a Civil Ceremony Licence, which means couples can get married either inside the Old Cattle Shed or outside in The Manor Barn’s beautiful courtyard area.

Over the years, we’ve watched couples exchange their vows outside, surrounded by Cambridgeshire countryside and British sunshine. We’ve also shot plenty of indoor weddings in the Old Cattle Shed, which with its modern lighting, wooden backdrop and airy space is perfect for setting the scene for the big day.

For a traditional church wedding, the nearby Harlton Church is just a 5-minute walk away, which is doable for even the highest of bridal heels!

The Reception

After the vows have been exchanged, then it’s time for the guests to enjoy drinks and canapés while we steal the newlyweds and their closest family and friends off for a few close-ups!

Many couples choose to let their guests enjoy The Manor Barn’s grounds, soaking up the atmosphere with music and mingling. As photographers, we take this time to grab a few pictures of the couple before everyone gets ushered over to the Tythe Barn for the big wedding breakfast.

The Party

Once the wedding breakfast is served, then it’s truly time for The Manor Barn’s space to shine. A 400-year-old Grade II listed Tythe Barn (traditionally a grain store!) might not seem like the obvious spot for an epic after-party, but the exposed beams and fairy lights make it perfect for evening festivities. From elegant dining to casual food trucks, live bands to DJs, we’ve seen it all!

One of The Manor Barn’s stand-out features is its glittering canopy of fairy lights, which make the barn look elegant - even when the dance floor is packed! Here’s how our couples made their receptions memorable:

The Details

Every wedding is unique, and The Manor Barn lets each couple’s creativity and style shine through. From ponies to smoke bombs, emotional speeches to sassy sax players, here are some of our favourite wedding details that truly took our breath away.
